The demands of sustained ground combat in Iraq and Afghanistan have been depleting military gear faster than was originally anticipated and faster than it can be fully replenished...especially protective anti-ballistic eyewear. 

A sizable portion of Marine and Army gear, particularly in Iraq, is wearing out at up to six times the normal rate.

According to one U.S. official, Army stocks in Southwest Asia are exhausted, and those in Europe have also been "picked over." Roughly half of the Army and Marine equipment stored afloat on ships has been used up, the Army official said, and refilling the stocks must wait until the war in Iraq winds down. In the meantime, the Army has had to allocate limited equipment to its troops. 

And although the Pentagon is spending billions to repair and replace battle-worn equipment, such remedies take time, and no one, including senior officials, can predict how long these replenishment efforts will take.

The Armor 4 Troops Foundation is simply trying to speed up and augment these replenishment procedures by providing "state of the art" protective anti-ballistic eyewear and other critical equipment directly to our American troops in the field.

This is precisely why it is so crucial for our American troops to have replacement protective anti-ballistic eyewear available to them without delays in the supply chain.
